U.S.A. sports (Milton y Fede)

SUPER-BESSE, France (AP) -- Kim Kirchen became the first Luxembourg rider in 50 years to take the yellow jersey in the Tour de France while Riccardo Ricco of Italy sprinted to a mountaintop victory Thursday in the sixth stage.
Kirchen claimed the overall lead after Stefan Schumacher fell in the final yards. The German had worn the yellow jersey for two days since winning Tuesday's time trial. Going back to M.L.S. meant going back to Kansas City because the Wizards retained his rights. And although Wolff has signed with the club through next (with a two-year league option), he is not eligible to play until July 15, the start of the league’s transfer period.
He is returning to a Wizards club that has new owners and a new place to play — Community America Ballpark, a minor league baseball stadium that holds about 10,000. The return of Wolff, 31, a striker who has scored 64 goals in 10 M.L.S. seasons, cannot come soon enough for the team. The Wizards (4-5-5, 17 points) are in last place in the Eastern Conference; on Thursday night they host the Red Bulls (5-5-5, 20 points). In a 1-1 tie with F.C. Dallas on Saturday, Kansas City scored its first goal since May 24, a streak of 448 minutes. (The Wizards did beat Real Salt Lake, 1-0, on June 28, but that was on an own goal.)
When he left for Germany, Wolff was among the highest-paid players in M.L.S., making $420,000 in 2006.
“We loved our time in Germany,” Wolff said. “But playing overseas is definitely not for everybody. That said, I would encourage any player that has the want or desire to make something of themselves to try to get anywhere in Europe. The toughest thing is just getting situated. Once you get past that, you have to find yourself as a player.”
He added: “I have no regrets about anything I’ve done. Soccer’s been good to me, and I think I’ve provided some quality to the game. I have no second thoughts.”
Major League Soccer
Schellas Hyndman is only three games — a loss and two draws — into his tenure as the coach of F.C. Dallas (4-6-6, 18 points), but he has put some underachieving veterans on notice.
